Old Perth 1996 Sherry Cask Vintage Collection (55.8%)

Old Perth 1996 is a blended malt and the first release in the Vintage Collection. Every whisky in it was distilled in 1996, and it is bottled at a cask strength of 55.8%. Only 936 bottles were produced. After 25 years in cask, the whisky matured entirely in Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The malts come from a wide spread of Scottish whisky regions rather than Speyside alone, and a small share of Islay malt went into the vatting. It is described as rich and complex, with layers of stewed fruit and plenty of spice, and a gentle touch of smoke arriving at the end.
