Old Pulteney 12 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

Old Pulteney 12 Year Old is a single malt from Pulteney Distillery in Wick, Scotland, in a 70cl bottle at 40% abv. It matured for twelve years entirely in ex-bourbon casks made from American oak that had been air-dried beforehand. The whisky is chill-filtered and has colouring added. It belongs to the Signature Collection, and the rounded bottle echoes the unusual shape of the distillery's wash still. Citrus, honey and vanilla meet a pronounced salty, coastal character. The nose opens with bright citrus and vanilla before sea air arrives, and the palate leads with honey and cream. The finish is long and lively, sweet with a distinctly salty edge.
