A five-year-old Overeem single malt from Tasmania, selected by That Boutique-y Whisky Company for its Return to Oz series. Batch 3 matured in an ex-Apera cask and was bottled at 50% in a 50cl bottle, 522 bottles in all. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour.
The illustrated label alludes to the poster for Star Wars: A New Hope.
The nose offers dark chocolate, dried fruit, plums and raisins, with hazelnuts, nutmeg and cinnamon and a touch of mint. The palate is thick, powerful and balanced, moving from dark chocolate to hazelnuts and raisins before peppery spice appears. The finish is long and spicy, fading on a light note of pepper.
