Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve 15 Year Old is a Kentucky straight bourbon in a 75cl bottle, bottled at 107 proof (53.5% abv).
It is a wheated bourbon, with wheat used in place of rye in the mash bill. After 15 years of ageing, the caramel, vanilla and spice have come together, with richness and structure but little heat.
The nose gives caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and warm baking spice. The palate is full bodied, with toffee, honey, dark fruit, leather and gentle spice. The finish is long, smooth and warming, with oak sweetness and soft spice.
