Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 20 Year Old (75cl, 45.2%)

Pappy Van Winkle's Family Reserve 20 Year is a wheated Kentucky straight bourbon, aged for twenty years and bottled at 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV). It is produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. The recipe goes back to Julian 'Pappy' Van Winkle Sr., who used wheat rather than rye as the secondary grain. Julian Van Winkle III began working with Buffalo Trace in 2002, and the Van Winkle bourbons have been produced there since. The nose brings leather, smoke, dried dark fruit, minerals and a little coffee. On the palate are oiled leather, dark cherry, tobacco and caramel, with well-integrated oak. The finish is very long, with floral honey and charred barrel.
