Peat Reek 10 Year Old is a blended malt from Blackadder, a vatting of whiskies from undisclosed Islay distilleries. This RP2022-04 batch was finished in an Oloroso sherry cask and bottled in 2022 at a cask strength of 58.6%, in a 70cl bottle. There are 703 bottles.
The malt is made from barley heavily dried over peat, with a phenol level of 30 ppm.
The notes describe powerful Islay peat smoke alongside rich dried fruit, tobacco and oak spice. The texture is oily, with sweet caramel set against medicinal ash and sea salt, and the finish is bold and warming.
