Penderyn Celt is a peated single malt from the Penderyn distillery in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales. It starts as the light, fruity Penderyn spirit, matured first in Kentucky ex-bourbon barrels and then in richly peated Islay quarter casks.
The nose offers mild peat smoke, a rocky seaside on an early morning and warm marmalade on toast. The palate opens with great sweetness before smoky, slightly medicinal flavours arrive, followed by a slight bitterness. The finish is long, with a lingering fresh taste.
