Penderyn – Peated

Penderyn Peated is a Welsh single malt that gets its peated finish from its casks. The spirit first matured in Evan Williams Bourbon barrels, which gave it vanilla and fruit, and was then finished in casks that had held peated Islay whisky from Scotland. Jim Swan, the master distiller behind it, oversaw the maturation. Production is limited to 5000 bottles a year, and the approach differs from that of a classic peated whisky. It is described as fruitier than most peated malts, with green apple, lemon and vanilla alongside delicate peat.
