Penderyn Celt is a peated single malt Welsh whisky, bottled at 41% in a 70cl bottle. The peat is light and sits in the background, and it does not aim for the heavy smoke of Islay.
The nose is gently smoky, with smoked applewood, brine, sweet cereal, honey and underripe apricot. On the palate, sweet malt, orchard fruit and lemon zest sit under steady smoke, with roasted grain, cracked pepper and a faint herbal note. The finish is dry and a little saline, with a lingering peat hum and a slight bitterness of charred herbs.
