Penderyn – Icons of Wales 12 Copperopolis (46%)

Penderyn Icons of Wales 12 Copperopolis is the twelfth release in Penderyn's Icons of Wales series. It pays tribute to the part Swansea played in the copper industry: from 1720 the city smelted half of the world's copper and 90 per cent of Britain's. Penderyn's new distillery now occupies the old copper works' historic power station. The whisky was finished in sweet red wine casks and bottled at 46%. The nose is floral and fruity, with orange blossom, peaches, cherries and orange peel, plus vanilla and honey. The palate is rich and velvety, with caramel, honey, raisins, figs and oak spice. The finish is dry and oaky, with a touch of citrus and cocoa.
