Penderyn – Icons of Wales 14 The Village

This Welsh whisky from Penderyn is the Icons of Wales 14 release, The Village. It matured in Amarone wine casks and is released for the 100th anniversary of Portmeirion in 2026, the Italianate village on the north Wales coast. The Amarone casks add fullness and structure to Penderyn's clear, fruity house style. In the tasting notes, the nose offers ripe red fruit, honeyed malt and gentle oak spice, followed by vanilla, cocoa powder and a light floral note. The palate is soft and round, with red berries, stewed plum, mild baking spices and a gentle honeyed sweetness. The finish brings candied fruit, spiced oak and a subtle touch of grape tannin.
