The Headliner is the ninth release in Penderyn's Icons of Wales series. It is named after David Lloyd George (1863-1945), the only Welsh prime minister, who initiated the Immature Spirits Act of 1915, requiring whisky to mature for at least three years.
The whisky was matured in Jamaican rum and port casks, then bottled at 46% without chill filtering.
On the nose there are fresh cherries and summer berries, creamy oat cake, oak vanilla and baking spices. The palate brings fruit cake with a hint of caramel, drying green oak and peppery spice. The finish is dry, with plenty of sweet fruit.
