This is a Welsh single malt from Penderyn, the ninth release in its Icons of Wales series. It is named 'The Headliner' in honour of David Lloyd George (1863-1945), the only Welsh Prime Minister, who was behind the Immature Spirits Act 1915, which set a minimum of three years' maturation for whisky.
The nose is light and fruity, with red berries, strawberries and cream, a touch of cranberry, light oak and vanilla. The palate is rich and sweet, with dried fruits, salted caramel and floral honey, plus a spicy note of black pepper. It finishes dry and tannic.
