Pierre Ferrand 10 Générations is a Grande Champagne cognac from Maison Ferrand, drawing on ten generations of family craft dating back to 1630. It is bottled at 46%.
The spirit is distilled slowly on the lees in 19th-century pot stills and aged in French oak, with 20% finished in former Sauternes casks.
The nose shows baked apple, candied orange peel, raisin, apricot, gingerbread and nutmeg, with floral notes of orange blossom. On the palate are apple tart, pear, peach and honeyed sweetness, with nutmeg, toasted almond and white pepper. The finish is smooth and moderately long, with fruitcake, brown sugar and a little pipe tobacco.
