Pikesville Straight Rye is a six-year-old rye bottled at 110 proof, or 55% ABV. The brand was first made in Maryland in the 1890s, was closed by Prohibition, and returned afterwards to become the last standing Maryland rye.
It is now produced in Kentucky by Heaven Hill, from extra-aged barrels kept in prime warehouse locations.
The colour is pale copper. The nose offers dusty cocoa over oaky smoke, the palate is dry and spicy with honeyed rye and cloves, and the finish brings soft vanilla and baking spices.
