Pōkeno – Discovery New Zealand Single Malt Whisky (70cl, 43%)

Discovery is part of the core single malt range from Pōkeno Distillery in New Zealand, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is a vatting of fully matured whiskies from first-fill bourbon, Oloroso sherry and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks. The distillery draws on natural spring water and barley from three family-owned farms on the South Island, with slow fermentation and distillation. The nose brings black forest gateau, ripe cherry and warm cinnamon, with dark chocolate and sweet citrus. On the palate it is rich and smooth, with dark chocolate, cherry and cinnamon, plus vanilla and a touch of spice. The finish is very long, with caramel, spice and dark chocolate sweetness.
