Pōkeno – First Fill Bourbon & PX Single Malt (70cl, 55.8%)

A New Zealand single malt from Pōkeno Distillery, bottled at 55.8% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery uses barley from three family-owned farms on the South Island, together with natural spring water. It takes a double wood approach: single malts fully matured in first fill bourbon barrels and PX sherry hogsheads are vatted, then left for several months in a PX hogshead to marry. The nose combines citrus with dark chocolate and dried fruit. On the palate there is black forest gâteau, with deep, rich notes from the PX cask. The finish is deep and long.
