Pōkeno First Fill Casks is a New Zealand single malt, bottled at 48.2% in a 70cl bottle. It was created for The Whisky Club as its July 2025 Whisky of the Month.
This one-off marries Pōkeno's first-fill casks: Spanish PX, Spanish Moscatel, American oak ex-Bourbon and new American oak. It was bottled without chill filtration or added colour.
The nose has butterscotch, stewed plum and dark cherry, with toasted cinnamon, toffee apple and bittersweet marmalade. The palate is deep and rich, recalling spiced French toast and tiramisu. The finish is long and velvety, with cherry chocolate, raisin, warm spice and oak.
