Port Askaig 12 Year Old Autumn Edition is a limited Islay single malt, non-chill-filtered and bottled at 45.8%, in a 70cl bottle. It is a tribute to the flavours of Islay, from a distillery on the island's north-east coast, close to the village of Port Askaig.
The vatting brings together nine refill American oak hogsheads, five Oloroso sherry butts and three solera sherry butts, giving smoky, fruity and coastal character.
The nose offers crumbly Wensleydale with cranberries, smoky bacon crisps, cherry liqueur and flaming Christmas pudding. The palate has red grapes, smouldering wood chips and dried seaweed, and the finish is salty and spicy, with berry tea and stewed plums.
