This is a limited-edition Islay single malt Scotch, selected and bottled by Elixir Distillers at 50.5% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The 2024 release is a vatting of just 30 refill hogsheads from an undisclosed distillery on the north coast of Islay.
Fifteen years in refill wood lets the maritime, smoky character of the spirit develop without being overwhelmed by oak.
The nose offers toasted vanilla, sea breeze and charred hay, with grilled orange, oregano and coal smoke. On the palate come sea salt, lemongrass, brown sugar and light smoke, and the finish is long and maritime, with melon, rock salt and sooty peat.
