Port Askaig 28 Year Old is an Islay single malt from a distillery that remains unnamed, bottled in 2019 by Elixir Distillers, the trading house of Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh. It comes from refill American oak hogsheads chosen purely on quality, and 3,000 bottles were filled at 45.8%.
The nose offers gentle smoke, sea spray, lemon, wax and white fruit. The palate is broad and salty, with softened peat, honey, pear and spice. The finish is long, running through smoke, salt and a hint of citrus.
