Port Askaig Cask Strength is a peated Islay single malt from Elixir Distillers, bottled at 59.4% in a 70cl bottle as part of the Small Batch series.
The whisky matured in first-fill toasted bourbon barrels and refill American oak hogsheads, and it was bottled at cask strength.
The nose brings peat smoke, black pepper, toasted bread, citrus fruit and smoked ham. On the palate a fresh start gives way to medicinal smoke, spice, nuts, oak and ash. The finish is long, with dark chocolate, toffee and smoke.
