Port Askaig Cask Strength is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky from Elixir Distillers, bottled at around 55.8% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
Each release is vatted from no more than 60 selected casks and carries its own batch code and cask breakdown. Strength shifts a little from one batch to the next.
The nose is sweet coastal peat smoke with salted caramel and toasted hazelnuts. The palate brings barbecued peach and apricot, seaweed and a growing chilli heat, over vanilla custard. The finish is long and smoky, with herbal peat, black pepper and a faint note of melted butter.
