Port Charlotte 18 is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, in a 70cl bottle at 52.3%. The 2026 edition is limited to 8,000 bottles. It uses Scottish barley peated to 40 PPM, and every step, including the 18 years of maturation, took place on Islay. The vatting draws on first-fill bourbon, second-fill sherry and ex-virgin oak casks, plus a portion held for five years in first-fill Rhône red wine casks. It is non-chill-filtered, with no added colour. The nose brings tropical fruit, soft wood smoke, honeycomb and apricot. On the palate, caramelised brown sugar and tropical fruit meet leather and charred oak. The long finish moves from sweet citrus and vanilla cream to smouldering peat.

Tasting Notes

Nose

Palate

Soft and round; wood spice, campfire smoke, caramelised brown sugar, honeycomb toffee, tropical fruit, leather, charred oak, roasted almond, salty freshness

Finish

Long; sweet citrus and vanilla cream, then smouldering peat and a light sea breeze

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
