Port Charlotte 18 Years Old is the 2025 release of Bruichladdich's heavily peated Islay single malt, with the malt peated to 40 ppm. It was distilled on Islay and matured in a combination of bourbon and French wine casks.
Peat and smoke sit alongside ripe fruit, salted chocolate, leather and a mineral freshness, while the island's maritime character remains.
The nose brings bonfire smoke, dark berries, sea air, tobacco, leather, burnt caramel and dark chocolate. On the palate it is powerful but silky, with dried figs, orange, liquorice, sea salt and oak spice, slightly medicinal. The finish is long, salty and smoky, with lasting warmth, mineral freshness and a hint of cocoa and herbs.
