Port Charlotte PMC:01 is a nine year old heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, made with local barley. It was distilled in 2013 and bottled in 2023. Maturation came in two stages: first-fill bourbon casks, then red wine casks from Pomerol.
The bottle is unfiltered and carries a label signed by head distiller Adam Hannett.
The nose is ripe pear and sweet honey with vanilla and marzipan, under a warm veil of smoke. The palate pairs sweet malt with dark blackberry, spicy leather and oak, with strong smoke. The finish is maritime, with seaweed and long, elegant smoke.
