Port Charlotte 9 Year Old SC:01 2012 (55.2%)

This is a peated Islay single malt from Port Charlotte, grown, distilled, matured and bottled entirely on the island. It is the first in the distillery's Cask Exploration series to be made with 100% Islay barley. It is 9 years old, distilled in 2012 and bottled at 55.2%. The whisky began in sherry casks and first- and second-fill American whiskey casks. At various points in maturation it was moved into Sauternes wine casks from the left bank of the Garonne in Bordeaux. Soft, floral gorse notes meet honeyed coconut and fudge before opening into Port Charlotte's barbecue peat smoke.
