This is the first Special Release of Port Ellen from Diageo, a 22 year old Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle. It was distilled in 1979, four years before the distillery closed, and bottled in 2001.
The whisky matured in American oak casks and was bottled at natural cask strength. Only 6000 bottles were released.
It is described as fruity, smoky and dry in character.
