This is a 27 year old Port Ellen, distilled in 1981 and bottled in 2008 for the Feis Ile festival on Islay. It comes from a single American oak cask, number 1301, and 220 bottles were filled, each in a 70cl bottle. It was the first and only single cask bottling from Port Ellen released under Diageo ownership. Port Ellen's smokiness is described as strongly maritime, with a sharp lemon note, light tar and an oily texture.
