A 31 year old Islay single malt from Port Ellen, distilled in 1978 and bottled in 2010 as the 10th release in the annual Diageo Special Releases series. It is a limited edition of 3,000 bottles, in a 70cl bottle, matured in refill sherry casks.
It is described as coastal and sooty on the nose, with honey, yellow apple, vanilla, sweet almonds and wax. The palate is medium-bodied, oily and lightly spicy, with lemon and a salty, herbal note. The finish is long and warming, with coal smoke, lemon and a bitter-salty edge.
