Port Ellen is a closed Islay distillery. Its smoke is described as highly maritime, with a sharp lemon element, light tar and some oiliness in the texture.
The nose is maritime, with gentle peat smoke, honeyed barley and lemon zest. The palate brings smoky embers, salted caramel and dried fruit, balanced by earthy peat and spice. The finish is long, with smoky sweetness and coastal salinity.
