A 37 year old Islay single malt from Port Ellen, the 17th release in the annual Diageo Special Releases series. It comes in a 70cl bottle and is one of 2988 bottles, matured in American and European oak casks.
The nose runs from sandalwood smoke, resin, citrus, syrup and ginger to apricots, sultanas, mango and pine, then dried tea and honey. On the palate there is ashy smoke and maltiness alongside fudge, caramel and bitter coffee, with woody notes and hints of dried fruit. The finish is long and warming, with ginger, sandalwood and cloves.
