This is a 40 year old Port Ellen single malt from Islay, bottled by Hunter Laing as the second release in its Eidolon series. It was distilled in 1982, shortly before the distillery closed, and 403 bottles were drawn from one cask at a natural cask strength of 56.5%. It has no artificial colouring and is not chill filtered. Deep amber in colour, it shows sherry cask influence on the nose, with red fruit, cocoa, cherry, pecan, caramel and sweet pipe tobacco. The palate has dark chocolate, espresso, citrus, polished wood and Islay peat smoke, with herbal and oyster-like sea notes emerging with water. The finish carries old fishing nets, tar, honey, black tea and chocolate almonds.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
