Privateer Letter of Marque Single Cask #P574 (57%)

This is a single cask American rum from Privateer in Massachusetts, bottled at cask strength at 57% vol. It comes from cask #P574 alone, and only 228 bottles were filled. The rum is made from Grade A Guatemalan molasses, fermented for about six days at a low temperature, then distilled twice in a pot still. It spent four years and four months in a new American oak barrel in Massachusetts, which gives the oak a strong hand in the finished spirit. Vanilla, coconut, dark caramel and oak spice lead the flavour. Dried tropical fruit, red fruit and chocolate gradually follow behind them.
