R. Jelinek Fernet (38%)

R. Jelinek Fernet is a Czech herbal liqueur of 38% ABV, made by R. Jelinek in Vizovice. The recipe dates from the late 19th century, when it was first created near Luhačovice, and it is built on a blend of 14 herbs and roots. It is a dark, inky brown digestif with mahogany highlights, led by anise and cloves alongside botanicals such as gentian and chamomile. The character is bitter and medicinal, with dried fruit, mint and deep herbal spice. It works served chilled and neat, alongside coffee or espresso, or in cocktails.
