This is a five year old slivovitz from R. Jelinek in the Czech Republic, made from Bohemian plums and bottled at 50% vol. The recipe dates back to 1894, and the spirit is produced under kosher supervision.
It is triple-distilled and then matured for five years, which smooths the spirit and develops its fruit and nut character. The colour is a clear gold.
The nose is ripe plum with sweet almond kernel and soft oak spice. The palate is smooth and velvety, with rich plum, toasted almond, a little vanilla and a touch of caramel. The finish is mellow and warming, with lingering plum sweetness and soft oak.
