Redbreast 12 Year Old Cask Strength is an Irish single pot still whisky, bottled at 56.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is made from a mash of malted and unmalted barley and triple distilled in copper pot stills.
The whisky is matured in a combination of Bourbon-seasoned American oak barrels and Oloroso sherry-seasoned Spanish oak butts, which gives Redbreast its sherry style. This expression shows the 12 Year Old at its natural strength.
The nose brings exotic fruit and a little citrus, with dried apricot, sultana, spices and toasted wood. The palate is rich and mellow, with fruit, spice, vanilla and a touch of oak. The finish is long, moving from fruit and spice to toasted oak and then barley.
