Redbreast 12 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

This is Redbreast 12 Year Old, a single pot still Irish whiskey made at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The spirit is distilled three times in copper pot stills from malted and unmalted barley. It spends twelve years in a combination of ex-bourbon casks of American oak and ex-Oloroso sherry casks of Spanish oak, which gives it a fruity, spicy character with sherry notes. The nose brings fruity and spicy aromas with toasted wood. The palate is full and silky, with fruit and spice balanced against sherry and roasted notes. The long finish stays spicy, with a slightly tart edge.
