Redwood Empire Van Duzen is a straight rye whiskey bottled at 47% ABV. It was distilled, aged and bottled in Sonoma County, California, and comes from the Small Set Series as Batch No. 002, drawn from 64 barrels. The mash bill is high in malt, with 66% rye, 32% malted barley and 2% wheat. The whiskey was aged in toasted and charred (Char 3) barrels. The batch is named after the Van Duzen River. The nose has warm spice, toasted oak, vanilla and malted grain. The palate brings caramel, toasted nuts, rye spice, barley sweetness and a touch of citrus zest, with a lingering finish of oak, malt and delicate spice.
