A Très Vieux Fins Bois Cognac from Rémi Landier, distilled in 1972 and bottled at natural cask strength of 52.5%. It is a deep amber in the glass.
The nose is complex, with ripe Williams pears, peaches and roasted almonds, a fine waxy note and a minerality reminiscent of sweet Riesling. On the palate the strength shows in intense coconut, juicy mango and passion fruit, followed by a creamy texture of almond mousse and soft nougat.
Its density suits drinking neat at room temperature.
