Rittenhouse Rye 100 Proof is a Bottled-in-Bond rye whiskey bottled at 50%. The designation comes from an American government regulation of 1897. It means the whiskey comes from a single distilling season, was matured for at least four years in a bonded warehouse and was produced by one master distiller. The nose has dried fruit and soft spice, with cocoa, caramel, orange peel and cinnamon. The palate is dense and fruity, with chocolate oranges, cassia bark, nutmeg and oak. The finish is spicy and fruity, rather coppery, with marmalade and spice.
