Rock Island Blended Malt - Small Batch (70cl, 46.8%)

Rock Island is a blended malt from Douglas Laing, made from small batches of single-cask malts from Scottish islands, including Islay, Arran, Jura and Orkney. It belongs to the Remarkable Regional Malts series, in which Rock Island represents the islands. It is bottled at 46.8%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour. Salty, sweet, earthy and smoky notes make up the character, with the smoke more restrained than heavy. The nose suggests sea-washed rocks and fresh, salty sea air. The palate is fine and restrained, with gentle, slightly sweet peat, smoke, honey, damp ash and liquorice, and pepper arriving later. The finish returns to the salty, maritime notes, with sweet peat, honey and pepper.
