A 21 year old blended Scotch whisky from Royal Salute, in a sapphire-coloured Spode decanter made by Chivas Brothers. The flagon was created to celebrate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
Royal Salute was first made in 1953 as a tribute to the British monarchy, and takes its name from the 21 gun salute. Its home is said to be the Strathisla distillery.
Tasting notes describe a hint of smoke, honey and a malty backdrop, with caramel and toffee leading to a deep, champagne-like toastiness. A very subtle spiciness of dill, tarragon and cardamom is noted.
