This is Royal Salute 21 Year Old, a blended Scotch whisky in a one litre sapphire-coloured Spode decanter from Chivas Brothers. The flagon was made to mark the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
The Royal Salute name dates from 1953 and refers to the 21 gun salute. The blend is said to have its home at the Strathisla distillery.
It is described as having a hint of smoke, honey and a fine malty backdrop, with caramel and toffee followed by a rich, champagne-like toastiness. Dill, tarragon and cardamom appear as a very subtle spice.
