Sakurao Sauternes Cask Finish is a limited-edition Japanese single malt from the Sakurao Distillery in Hiroshima prefecture, which was founded in 2018. It is made from 100% malted barley and double distilled.
The whisky matures first in ex-bourbon casks, then spends 18 months in French Sauternes wine casks. It is bottled at 50% ABV.
The nose offers honey, apricot and warm spices. The palate is creamy, with vanilla custard, ripe fruit and caramelised banana. The finish is long, with subtle oak and spice.
