Sakurao Japanese Single Malt is one of the first whiskies from Sakurao Distillery, formerly Chugoku Jozo, to be distilled in Japan. The distillery previously made Togouchi whisky, aged in a railway tunnel in the Hiroshima mountains, using whiskies sourced from overseas. This one is wholly Japanese.
It is aged at the distillery in four cask types: ex-Bourbon, ex-Sherry, American oak and Mizunara. Bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle and non-chill filtered, it is reported to carry a little peat.
