Samuel Gelston's – Irish Whiskey Pinot Noir Cask (70cl, 40%)

Samuel Gelston's Pinot Noir Cask is a triple distilled Irish whiskey, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is a collaboration between Johnny Neill, owner of Gelston's, and his cousin Sam Neill, the actor, writer and producer, who is based in New Zealand. The whiskey spent 19 months in ex-bourbon casks, then a further 21 months in French oak casks that had previously held Sam's Central Otago Pinot Noir. The nose is malty, with hints of strawberry, nutmeg and tropical fruit. The palate is big, rich and sweet, with a hint of dryness, blackcurrant and a dash of spice. The finish is smooth and sweet, with marshmallow and jam.
