Sazerac Rye 18 Year is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from Buffalo Trace in Frankfort, in the 2018 release of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection. It comes in a 750ml bottle.
The whiskey spent 18 years in new charred oak and is bottled uncut and unfiltered. Its name comes from the Sazerac cocktail, created at the Sazerac Coffee House in New Orleans in 1850.
The nose is mature, with oak, leather, molasses and all-spice, plus hints of mint and eucalyptus. The palate is mellow and warming, with dry sweetness, cinnamon, vanilla and pepper. The finish is very long and fades into a warm oak close.
