Scarabus is an Islay single malt bottled by Hunter Laing, here at 15 years old and 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It matured in bourbon casks and is bottled without chill filtration or added colouring. The Scarabus name comes from a place on Islay, and the whisky is strongly smoky.
The nose is maritime peat smoke with sea spray, charred oak, citrus, orange peel and a touch of sea salt. The palate is full and robust, with caramel, honeyed pear and bright orange peel, ending in charred oak and heavy smoke. The finish is smooth and lasting, with coastal notes and classic Islay peat.
