Scarabus Islay Single Malt Batch Strength (70cl, 57%)

Scarabus is an Islay single malt bottled by Hunter Laing at a batch strength of 57%. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour. The name was created for Feis Ile 2019. Hunter Laing had built the new Ardnahoe distillery on Islay, but it had no whisky of its own yet, so this malt from another Islay distillery was bottled under the Scarabus label to pour and sell during the festival. The nose brings sea salt and strong campfire smoke. On the palate there is peat smoke with liquorice, toffee and vanilla, followed by a very long, peaty finish with a slight sweetness of burnt wood.
